_______________

(Mon) Dec 25 9:00am-3pm; Ore Hill - Christmas Day Winter Hike (Intermediate Level).

This winter hike will cover the Ore Hill section of the Appalachian Trail between Cape Moonshine Rd. and Rte. 25C (Lake Tarleton HWY). Total miles = 6.8 miles. $25 Adult / $12 Youth (10-15yo).  This is a pretty flat hike with some ups and downs. I rate this intermediate level based on the round trip distance. A carpool might be possible.

_______________

(Tue) Dec 26 9:00am-2:00pm; Pemi Trail - Day-After Christmas Winter Hike (Beginner Level). This winter hike takes the trail through the west side of Franconia State Park. Total miles = 5.4 miles. $20 Adult / $10 Youth (10-15yo). This is a pretty flat hike with some ups and downs. I rate this beginner level based on the gradual inclines and short distance. A carpool might be possible.

_______________

(Wed) Dec 27 10:00am - 12:00pm; Coastal Birding Class - Marginal Way; Ogunquit, ME.

This brief (2 hr) birding class will cover basic identification tips and practice with New England's winter ducks among other birds. After this class, the participant should have increased confidence to identify Common Eider, Long-tailed Duck, Surf Scoter, Black Scoter, White-winged Scoter, Harlequin Duck (my favorite North American Duck), and Red-breasted Merganser. Non-ducks we will likely work on too, include Common Loon, Red-necked Grebe, Double-crested Cormorant, Great Black-backed Gull, Herring Gull, and more. $30 Adult / $15 Youth. A carpool might be available.

_______________

(Thu) Dec 28 9:00am - 3:00pm; Coastal Birding Trip - Seabrook, NH and Plum Island.

This full day (6 hr) birding trip will try to find as many different species as possible from coastal areas of Seabrook, NH, Salisbury, MA, and Newburyport / Plum Island. Full Day $40 Adult / $20 Youth (10-15yo); Half day $25 Adult / $12 Youth (10-15yo).

2018

January

(Tue) Jan 2 6:30pm - 8:00pm; Full Moon Snowshoe (Beginner Ability); Northwood Meadows State Park (Rte 4 in Northwood).

Hopefully we will have snow on our snowshoe trip. We will stop at the Cooper Hill Pizzeria in Northwood for some post-hike (pay your own) refreshment. $10 Adult / $5 Youth (10-15yo). I have a limited number of rental snowshoes ($10) and microspikes ($7).

_______________

(Sun) Jan 7 8:00am - 3:00pm; Winter Hike (Beginner Ability); Potash Mtn. (Livermore, NH).

I rate this winter hike as a beginner hike because of its short round-trip distance of 4.2 miles. There is some climb to this hike to reach the Potash Mtn. summit, which is on the list of 52 With-A-View. This is a great hike for someone comfortable with winter hiking and wanting to summit their first peak in winter. I have a limited number of rental snowshoes ($10) and microspikes ($7).

_______________

(Sun) Jan 21 9:00am - 3:00pm; X-Country Ski; Greely Pond Trail (Waterville Valley, NH).

This is an advanced x-country ski tour up to Greely Pond from Waterville Valley. It is advanced because it is off of groomed trails. $30 Adult / $15 Youth (10-15yo). This trip will include birding and stopping to examine winter tracks.

_______________

(Wed) Jan 31 6:30pm - 8:00pm; Full Moon Snowshoe (Beginner Ability); Vaughn Woods, South Berwick, ME. $10 Adult / $5 Youth (10-15yo). I have a limited number of rental snowshoes ($10) and microspikes ($7).
