Description: This is a fun Spring hike that combines great birding lessons with NH forest plant identification. This hike is scheduled during two distinct periods ... one in May and the other in June. In May, this trip to the North Country most often occurs prior to the full flush of forest leaves and provides the best opportunities of great views of resident and late migrant birds. In June, the birds are on territory and we work on birding by ear identification skill building and identification of forest trees, woody shrubs, and herbaceous wildflowers.
Focus: Northern Hardwoods Birds; White Mountain Wildflowers
Season: (May-June)
Hike*: 2 to 9 miles round-trip
Time*: 2.0-7.5 hours
Size: 3-10 persons
*These trips are not about finishing the hiking route. Primary focus is birdwatching and wildflowering. This means the trip may turn back before reaching summits or endpoints. If time permits, the hiking route may be completed.
